The Lord's Supper

Jesus instituted this ceremony exactly as He wanted it done, and told His disciples, "Do this in remembrance of me." He took a single loaf of unleavened bread and declared that it represented His body. He then gave it to the disciples for each one to take a portion and eat it. Then, He took a cup of grape juice (fruit of the vine) and declared that it represented the covenant which was ratified by the blood which He shed, and He gave it to his disciples commanding them to all drink of it.
We strive to follow His example as closely as possible, in an effort to honor His command to "Do this" according to His instruction. We observe the Lord's Supper as we meet together on the first day of every week just as the early churches did, beginning in Jerusalem. |
